Help & company
String art is drawn with a few thousand straight lines, so the photo matters more than anything else. These are the photos that turn into the best pieces, and the ones to avoid.
| Frame size | Best for |
|---|---|
| 40 cm / 16 in | A photo of one person. Great for desks, shelves and smaller walls. |
| 50 cm / 20 in | Couple photos give a good result. Made for living-room walls. |
| 60 cm / 24 in | Excellent for couple photos (and the best choice for groups). A statement piece, seen from across the room. |
Choose by who is in the photo. One person: 40 cm / 16 in is all you need. Two people: 50 cm / 20 in gives a good result, and 60 cm / 24 in gives an excellent one, because each face gets more room and more thread lines. Also think about where it will hang: string art looks best from a little distance, so bigger frames suit bigger walls.
Yes. The DIY kit comes in all three sizes: 40 cm / 16 in, 50 cm / 20 in and 60 cm / 24 in (the frame's diameter). The frame arrives ready to wind with its nails in place, and your winding plan is made for the size you choose. Prices for each size are shown when you choose the kit.
Always. The Studio shows you a free preview of your exact design, so you can try different photos, sizes and colors before you order.

StringPhoto is a brand of String Photo LLC, based in Texas, USA. We make algorithmic string art: our software works out a route of thread across a ring of nails that recreates your photo. You can wind it yourself from a DIY kit or a digital plan, or we make the finished piece for you.

The Studio preview is a close picture of the finished piece. Real thread, nails and lighting can make small differences in color and texture, so a piece may not match the screen exactly. Digital plans and instructions are for your own personal use; please don't resell or share them.
